Car Wax
Information about car wax
Auto wax has been around as long as the automobile has existed. From the time the first cars were made there were “detailers” that went to protect the paint with a car wax. Today we have liquid wax and paste wax but in the past there was only paste wax. Although the ingredients have remained largely the same, the quality and durability of the wax has improved dramatically.
A car wax is a very easy way to quickly apply a protective layer to the paint and give the paint extra shine and reflection. Because the paint is protected with wax, the surface will also become extremely water and dirt resistant. In this way, your car will stay clean longer and will also be easier to clean. Dirt cannot stick to the paintwork so the car will stay cleaner for longer. A good rain often ensures that the car is a lot cleaner than before. Of course, there will always be a dirty film on the paintwork. You can easily clean this by using a pH neutral car shampoo with your 2 bucket method. If you use an aggressive shampoo, the performance and durability of the car wax will decrease or even disappear completely.
There are mainly 2 types of wax. Namely, traditional paste wax and liquid wax. Traditional paste wax is a jar that contains a hard wax. It is hard because the percentage of wax in the paste wax is higher than in the liquid wax. As a result, the wax will also be harder. You can spread the paste wax by rubbing an applicator on the wax in the jar and then on the paint. Try not to rub too much product on the paint in 1 turn. There really doesn't have to be a lot of wax on the paint for it to work. It does not mean the thicker you apply the wax the better it will work. The excess product we take with a microfiber cloth after the wax has had time to cure on the paint. If you put the wax on the paint too thick it can become very difficult to remove and feel very sticky. This should not be the case. If you have applied it properly you should be able to remove the car wax normally very easily.
Liquid wax has a lower wax content because it cannot liquefy otherwise. Because of this, the durability is often not as long as a traditional paste wax. Although if you take a liquid wax that includes ceramic ingredients, it can sometimes still stay on the paint for six months before you need to reapply. Liquid wax also generally gives less shine and reflection than a paste wax. Then again, the advantage is that you can apply a liquid wax very easily. You can do this the same way as a paste wax, namely with an applicator. Or with a polisher and a polishing pad. This way you can sometimes wax an entire car in just 10 minutes!
However, it is always important to make sure the paint is completely clean when you wax your paint. You can do this by first washing the car thoroughly with a car shampoo and your 2 bucket system. After this, you can dry the car with a drying towel and apply the car wax. However, for maximum performance and the most durable result, it is recommended to prepare the paintwork even more. This is done by removing iron particles with an iron remover and tar stains with a tar remover. After this you can, if desired, give the paint a clay treatment to remove the last pollution. You can then also degrease the paint with an isopropyl-based degreaser. To make the adhesion between the car wax and the paint even better.
