Leather Cleaner
Information about leather cleaner
If you want to clean the leather of your car we always recommend a specialized leather cleaner. This is because leather can be very sensitive and very durable at the same time. It mainly depends on what kind of leather you have in your car. This is because not every leather interior is the same.
The most common type of leather is pigmented leather. This leather has a colored varnish coating over the leather that is tremendously durable. This leather has the least natural look, feel and smell. It cannot be treated with a leather conditioner because the conditioner cannot penetrate the coating into the leather itself. To clean this leather, you do not need a mild cleaner. Any leather cleaner is suitable for cleaning this type of leather. It is often used in cheaper cars that offer leather interiors such as Volkswagen, Renault, Peugeot, and so on.
The second most common type of leather is semi pigmented aniline leather. This is high-quality leather that has only a limited and thinner pigmented coating that does not compromise the natural appearance of leather. For the first few years, you will not necessarily need to treat this leather with a leather conditioner. Applying a leather conditioner never hurts. Only after a few years it will have a real effect because the protective coating of this leather becomes smaller over the years so that the leather conditioner can penetrate into the pores of the leather. We therefore recommend a slightly more sensitive leather cleaner when the leather is more cured. This type of leather is often used on upper class cars such as BMW, AUDI, Mercedes, Lexus, and so on.
Finally, there is the premium leather used in the most luxurious cars such as BMW limousines, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, and so on. It is Aniline leather, possibly you have heard the name Nappa leather before. This is the most natural and high quality leather used in cars. It is also the most fragile leather of all types. It is best to use the gentlest leather cleaners for this and then also treat the leather with a leather conditioner or leather coating to protect it.
Therefore, depending on what type of leather you have, we do not recommend using general interior all-purpose cleaners. These concentrated products are just general cleaners that are not specifically formulated to clean leather. You can sometimes damage sensitive leather. You can use a leather cleaner for all types of leather. Whether it is the most durable leather or the most sensitive. In general, you can do almost nothing wrong with a leather cleaner. If you still want more cleaning power, you can also always clean your leather with a brush. This will work the dirt loose and pull it to the surface, making it easy to remove with a microfiber cloth.
If you like to keep your leather in the best condition and also like to keep the leather as clean as possible while also making it easier to clean then we recommend a leather protection such as a leather coating.
