Glass Coating
Information about glass coating
With a Glass Coating you can make your glass and windows super water and dirt repellent. Although the term glass coating is often also used for paint coatings that contain SiO2 components found in sand used to make glass. Here we focus on coatings specifically for glass and windows. You can find paint coatings including SiO2 and ceramic coatings in our regular coatings section.
A glass coating has basically been around for a long time. People and detailers used to apply a wax to windows making them water repellent. Meanwhile, so much evolution has happened that we have specific coatings to treat windows and glass with better performance and longer durability.
Treating your windows or glass with a coating will make it tremendously water and dirt repellent. In this way, you significantly improve visibility while driving. Because the windows become super water repellent, you will find that you can see much more during a rain shower and you will also need your windshield wipers much less. Your wipers will also glide over the windows much more easily making this not only more pleasant while driving. But your wipers will also wear out less quickly.
Because your windows are also dirt-repellent after applying a glass coating, you will find that they stay cleaner longer and are also easier to clean. This is because the dirt and also insects can no longer adhere well to the glass. So you will find that simply spraying a bit of windshield washer fluid and turning on your wipers will get your windows pretty clean without any effort!
To apply a glass coating, it is important that you clean the windows thoroughly first. You can either do this with a car shampoo and your 2 bucket system to clean the whole car. Or you can clean the windows with a window cleaner. For maximum performance and durability, you can also polish the glass with a glass polish. This will remove minor dirt and scratches from the glass, allowing the glass coating to adhere better to the glass. It is recommended to degrease the glass again with isopropyl degreaser and a microfiber cloth before applying your coating.
When you go to apply the glass coating, it is best to read the product's instructions carefully. Some recommend applying the coating in circular motions. While others recommend straight movements in cross pattern. Some also require a drying time of several hours after application. Always make sure you read the description and manual carefully before applying a glass coating.
