Sealant & Spray Coating
Information about sealant & spray coating
Sealant & Spray Coating products are nowadays hardly distinguishable from each other. Today, the technology surrounding ceramic protection has developed so rapidly that it is no longer a complex consumable, nor is it expensive. A sealant is a synthetic wax protection. It used to be used before the technology of ceramic protection existed when you wanted a paint protection but did not want to wax your car every month. In fact, a sealant is often more durable than a traditional car wax. But this in turn had the disadvantage that it was a little more expensive and also had a little less performance. It gave less shine and reflection and the water and dirt repelling properties were not as good as a wax.
Today, this industry has developed so rapidly that all these notions no longer fully apply. In fact, a sealant today they make mostly in spray form instead of a liquid product. If we compare a spray sealant or spray coating with a spray wax, the spray sealant or spray coating is of course more durable than the spray wax. Do you still want a liquid product? Then you can look at the liquid car wax. This often has incorporated ceramic protection so you still get good durability from your protection and you also have good water and dirt repellent properties! Then you can just maintain it with a Sealant & Spray Coating.
Therefore, this is the main reason the Sealant & Spray Coating is used. It is not often used as a product on its own. You can sometimes apply a base protective layer to a dry car with a sealant or spray coating and then just maintain it. But mainly people and detailers use sealants and spray coatings as a protective layer for the paint protection that they have placed. This can range from a simple wax to a coating that lasts for years. By giving the paint protection an extra layer of protection with the sealant or spray coating, you extend the life of the protection and make sure it continues to perform optimally.
In fact, you can very easily use a sealant & spray coating as a maintenance product. You simply wash your car with a pH neutral car shampoo and your 2 bucket method. Then you spray the car with water and you can apply 2 to 3 sprays per panel with the sealant or spray coating. Quickly rub the product with a microfiber cloth, and you're done! This way you have quickly applied protection and can enjoy maximum shine and reflection from your paintwork. It also ensures that the paint becomes water and dirt repellent so the car will stay clean longer and is easier to clean. This is because the dirt cannot adhere to the surfaces so it stays cleaner longer. If it does get a little dirty and it rains just as well, it may even be a lot cleaner afterwards. When you do end up washing the car you will find that the dirt comes off much easier as well.
In addition to maintenance product, you can also use a sealant & spray coating on its own. It also has great properties on its own like the extra shine and reflection and also makes the surfaces water and dirt repellent. You can apply it perfectly just as you would with a maintenance job by simply spraying on a wet car a few times. But for optimal performance, it is best to first wash the car completely as before. And then dry the car with a drying towel. After this, apply the sealant or spray coating to a dry surface in crosswise motions with an applicator or microfiber cloth and wipe off the excess product again. After that, try to keep the paint dry as long as possible, up to 24 hours if possible. That way you can allow the coating to dry properly and adhere to the paint.
If you want even better performance from your sealant & spray coating, it is also best to make the paint as clean and glass as possible. This is done by removing iron particles with an iron remover and tar stains with a tar remover. Then you can give the paint another clay treatment to remove the last dirt from the paint. Finally, you can degrease the paint with an isopropyl degreaser if you really want to go to the extreme. Then you can apply the sealant or spray coating to dry paintwork in crosswise strokes. This is only for when no protection has been applied to the paint yet, though. If you do this treatment on a car that already has a protective layer you will remove some or all of it.
The durability of a sealant & spray coating is often around 6 months. Depending on which application method you use and in what conditions the sealant & spray coating has to handle.
