Headlight Restoration
Information about headlight restoration
Are your headlights dull, tarnished, yellow and weathered? Then your headlights need a headlight restoration to return them to like-new condition. This is because headlights endure over the years because of use and the UV rays of the sun. Without protection, they start to look discolored and weathered. Here you can find all the products you need to restore them and make them look clean and new again. In this way you improve the light output and the brightness of the light, which also improves your vision in the dark. Your headlights have to reach a certain light output otherwise they will be rejected at the inspection.
required. You can buy all these items separately from us. But there are also complete sets. If the headlights are not very weathered, then sometimes just polishing is enough to improve visibility. But in general, we always recommend sanding to remove as many scratches, small stone chips, oxidation and so on as possible. This will give you the best results. We always start with sanding. Depending on how badly the headlights are dented, you can sand in 1 to 4 steps. In the best case, you can do a quick sanding with a P3000 or P3500. In severe cases, you should start at P1000 and then P1500 followed by P2000 and P3000 or P3500 sandpaper.
After this you are going to polish the headlights. If you do this with a polisher and a polishing pad, of course it goes much faster than by hand. Some also like to use a handy adapter that allows you to attach your polishing pad to a hand backing plate so it polishes more easily. There are also special polishes for headlights, although traditional compound and polish can also work if they are the right grit.
After sanding and polishing, it is always wise to protect the headlights. By doing so, you can make sure that the headlights don't endure as much so that you don't have to do another headlight restoration every so often. In fact, there is also a certain UV resistant top coating in some headlights. So when you sand and or polish the headlights because they have faded, this coating is also removed and they will fade back faster. It goes without saying that you can never restore headlights indefinitely. At a certain moment the material runs out and you cannot restore headlights again.
